About the Institution
UWLA was founded in 1966, by Henry Blunt, and three other Culver City High School educators. One of the first teachers UWLA hired to teach law classes was Attorney Clifford Dicker. He taught at the school. Professor Dicker became a professor of community property and continued to teach until his death in 2009. Basil George Dezes was appointed Dean of the Law School in 2006. The UWLA curriculum emphasizes writing skills and balances substantive course work with practice-oriented courses such as Lawyering Skills Practicum and the Externship program. It also offers independent study opportunities, internships, and moot court.
