About the Institution
Founded in 1917, Campion College is named for the Jesuit priest and scholar, St. Edmund Campion. The college was founded through a special Act of the Legislature of the Province of Saskatchewan as the “Catholic College of Regina.” In 1923, Campion attained status as a Junior College of the University of Saskatchewan, and was the first institution in Regina through which students could earn a bachelor’s degree. In 1964, the College was granted federation with the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus, later to become the University of Regina. Campion College is a Jesuit Catholic community of learning, federated with the University of Regina. It provides a liberal arts education dedicated to the development of the whole person—intellectually, spiritually, socially—for service within society. At Campion College, we believe that a university is more than bricks and mortar, that education does not stop when classes end. The Jesuit philosophy of “Cura Personalis” or “Care for the Whole Person” is reflected in the College’s encouragement of students to pursue a well-rounded approach to their development. By combining this experience with studies in Arts, Fine Arts, Science, and Pre-Professional Programs, graduates leave with the communication, research, creative-thinking, and decision-making skills necessary to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world.
