About the Institution
On Sha'ban 5th, 1426 AH, Royal Decree No 9682/M B was issued announcing the establishment of Al-Baha University (BU). It first comprised only three faculties: Engineering, Science and Applied Medicine, accepting both male and female students with the exception of the Faculty of Engineering, which currently accepts only male students. Recently, faculties under the Ministry of Education were added to BU including men's faculties, such as the Faculty of Teacher Preparation at Al-Baha, and girls' faculties; such as the Faculty of Education for Girls at Al-Baha, Faculty of Education for Girls at Al-Mikhwah, Faculty of Female Teacher Preparation at Baljurashi as well as faculties of community service of Umm Al-Qura University, namely Faculty of Community at Al Baha and Faculty of Community for Girls at Al-Mandag. Following is a summarized history of higher education at the region of Al Baha. - University education at the region started in 1402 AH with the establishment of an intermediate faculty of education. In 1412 AH, it was developed into a four-year university Faculty of Education for girls that grants the bachelor degree. - In 1409 AH, the four-year Faculty of Teacher Preparation at Al Baha for male students was established granting the bachelor degree. - In 1417 AH, an intermediate faculty of education was established at Al-Mikhwah. In 1422 AH, it was developed into a four-year university Faculty of Education for girls that grants the bachelor degree.
