About the Institution
In the 1980s, the need for education was foremost in the minds of the persons entrusted with the future of the nation. It was Dr. Eric Williams, our first Prime Minister, who expressed the view that the future of the nation lay in the schoolbags of the nation's children. During that period, the thirst for knowledge in preparation for the imminent industrialisation was at its peak. Many nationals saw the opportunity to be part of this new wave of knowledge seekers from a commercial perspective, while others viewed the chance to aid in the development of what was to evolve into the country's greatest resource.Robin Maraj had just returned from abroad and was eager to play his role in nation building and so, in 1987, in a small building at #3 Santa Cruz Old Road, San Juan, was launched: The School of Business and Computer Science (SBCS. It was not very long after, that the success of that move became evident as the enrolment numbers grew at a phenomenal rate. Those students enrolled in the school were extremely happy with the quality of the tuition, the dedication of the teaching staff and the ambience of the school's premises. The need for expansion became obvious after only a short period and consequently, the search was on for adequate accommodation in order to meet the demands of an educationally advancing society and workforce.
