About the Institution
Charles Sturt University's 20th anniversary year in 2009 provided an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come as an institution. While we are 20 years a University, our history of engagement in professional education and state of the art, relevant research spans more than 100 years with the establishment in 1895 of the Bathurst Experimental Farm. The first 15 years of our history as a University was a period of remarkable achievement, bringing together two distinct and successful institutions, distributed over a vast geographic area. Growing our University has been achieved through a fine balance of financial prudence and strategic investment. Like our name-sake, the celebrated Australian explorer Charles Napier Sturt, Charles Sturt University will continue on this exciting journey, exploring new and innovative ways of advancing discovery and learning.
