About the Institution
Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering is among the oldest technical universities in Russia.In accordance with tradition the date of Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering foundation is December 22, 1920. Among the persons who participated in the Institute's work and development there were outstanding scientists and teachers such as academicians I.I. Artobolevskiy, P.L. Kapitsa, M.V. Kirpichev, Ya.M. Kolotyrkin, A.M. Kutepov, USSR Academy of Sciences corresponding members N.M. Karavaev, B.K. Klimov, S.Z. Roginskiy. Proffesors A.Q. Qorst, A.A. Gunman, E.G. Dudnikov, Z.B. Kantorovich, P.I. Nikolayev, A.N. Planovskiy, S.I. Schepkin, S.N. Shorin and others became the founders of new scientific schools. They were precisely the creators of training courses for mechanical engineers in the university that combine fundamental education with practical application of the theory of equipment design and technological innovatons in chemical and adjoining industries. More than 40.000 engineers have the University education, among them more than 2300 having Candidate and Doctor degrees. The extension of the profile in training specialists and the fact that the Academy attended to the problems of environmental protection engineering gave good results. The institute was awarded the status of Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering in 1997. Mow there are over 4000 students, 250 post-graduates at the University. Most of the teachers have Candidate and Doctor degrees, statuses of professors and assistant professors, honorable degrees. Today the University has opened new specialities, it is developing and expanding contacts with Russian educational establishments and firms as well as with the enterprises of Europe and Asia.
