About the Institution
SPAC began its operation in Digos, Davao del Sur in 1950, as an elementary school. The school became a Junior Academy in 1952, with 236 students enrolled. Soon over crowded condition necessitated a larger area. About 20 hectares of land were purchased through the effort of the late Ruperto Sumicad Sr., at Barrio Camanchiles, Matanao, Davao del Sur at a cost of P7, 000 some P1, 000 was contributed by Frank La Sage and his wife, and the remaining P1, 000 by the Southern Mindanao Mission, now the Davao Mission. The Far Easter Division allocated P40, 000 and the South Philippine Union gave P20, 000 for the construction of the school building. The SPAC that we have now, we owe it to our Almighty and our GC leaders, APD officers, union and mission administrators, the faculty, students and the constituency of South Philippine Union Conference. The maiden graduation ceremony for the first bath of seniors was last March 20-22, 1998. Forty-three students from AB-Theology, Computer Science, and Secretarial Science departments received their diplomas. In 1998, the above-mentioned departments were given government recognition by the CHED Region XI.
